Omo Oaiya

Omo Oaiya is an edupreneur with interests in e-learning and research and education networks.   He is CEO of Datasphir Solutions Limited and contributes to the development of RENs in Africa.  

He is a Trustee on the board of Eko-Konnect Research and Education Initiative which emerged out of his project to use open source software, commodity hardware and university partnerships to build templates and carrier-grade network devices for establishing RENs.   He continues to build platforms for universities to create networks and to offer their academic excellence on a consultancy basis to external stakeholders.

As Chair of the technical committee of the West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN),  he is involved in raising awareness of the potential of e-Infrastructures and NREN especially in the context of the unrolling network, to bring meaning to existing datasets and build transnational and transcontinental partnerships.

He is West African ambassador of the Peoples Open Access Initiative (Peoples-uni) where he coordinates IT development and support for the online delivery of low cost postgraduate education in Public Health
